Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
